Why Tim Walz was Appointed as Kamala Harris's VP Pick
On August 6th, 2024, Kamala Harris announced Tim Walz as her choice for Vice Presidential nominee. Tim Walz, an unfamiliar name to many Americans outside of his jurisdiction is the governor of Minnesota; elected to office in 2018 (MN). Walz stands as an ambassador for the Establishment; and has remained a persistent advocate of big government spending throughout his incumbency. Walz is a compromised and detached politician, evident through his voting history and commitment to unpopular agendas.
The outcome objectives that Tim Walz seeks to invoke include, (1) “universal free school meals for students,” neglecting to expound on the quality of the universal free lunches; (2) “protecting reproductive freedom,” without explaining the extent of the term “reproductive freedom;” (3) “strengthening voting rights,” without specifying where voting “rights” are currently lacking; (4) “laying the groundwork to get Minnesota to 100% clean electricity by 2040,” omitting consideration of the detriment incurred when relying exclusively on “clean energy, and failing to explain why this process requires his incumbency until 2040;” (5) cutting taxes for the middle class, failing to expound who exactly is the “middle class,” and what will happen to citizens categorized “below” this class; (6) expanding paid leave for Minnesota workers,” who paid leave applies to, and what criteria are required for this change. As seen during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic Tim Walz only classifies government approved workers as “essential,” (MN).
Christians are Non-Essential
Andrew Cuomo shut down New York churches during the coronavirus pandemic, barring citizens from attending services, (SupremeCourt). Similarly here; Governor Tim Walz declared Christian worship in Minnesota to be “non-essential” during the coronavirus pandemic, (MN). Yet, Walz reported that Minnesota’s “essential workers” included; (1) workers conducting research critical to COVID-19 response; (2) weather forecasters; (3) elections personnel; (4) hotel workers, only “where hotels are used for COVID-19 mitigation and containment measures;”
During a time of national crisis, Tim Walz was self-appointed as the arbiter of civic value. Walz imposed lockdowns on non-essential activities, banning congregations of worship in Minnesota churches. Walz assured Minnesota citizens that “[i]ndividuals may obtain food, including delivery or carry-out services, beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and other grocery items, gasoline, supplies needed to work from home, and products needed to maintain the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of homes and residences, businesses, and personally owned vehicles, including 3 automobiles and bicycles. Individuals may also visit and use the services of laundromats and dry cleaners,” (MN). Walz’s eager willingness to violate the United States Constitution, commissioned by Emergency Executive Order; foreshadows his potential incumbency, should he be elected to Vice President.
Walz proclaimed in 2020 that; “[a]s of March 24, 2020, twenty-four states representing almost 200 million Americans have issued orders or public health directives closing non-essential businesses or limiting residents from participating in non-essential activities,” (MN). Walz believed that “[l]imiting activities to only those which are most essential and practicing social distancing at all times are vital tools required to mitigate the community spread of COVID-19 in Minnesota and nationwide,” (MN).
Greater Appropriations
Tim Walz signed H.F. 4531 appropriating “emergency funds” for COVID-19; and S.F. 3813, a bill that appropriated further coronavirus funding for the Public Health Response, (JustFacts). Moreover, Walz signed H.F. 4415 to add more funding to assist school closures during the coronavirus pandemic; contributing to the decoupling of a generation from traditional social interaction. Walz’s signing of H.F. 4605 led to the authorization of “electronic documents and signature during a public health emergency;” id est a digital tracking system whose database is open to authoritative scrutiny; thus precluding any resistance from engagement in social interactions and barring access to public resources. Walz also supported S.F. 2876, legislation to apply more annual budget toward coronavirus propaganda. Tim Walz wants to establish abortion as a State Constitutional Right, signing H.F. 1. Additionally, Walz strives to prevent the public from accessing DOJ information on convicts participating in pre-trial release programs. Walz voted NO on H.R. 2152, a bill that “requires the Department of Justice to release information about defendants who participate in pre-trial release programs,” (JustFacts). The bill would ultimately remove federal grants from programs unwilling to participate in its compliance.
Tim Walz signed H.F. 2335, a bill that appropriated $1 Billion to “Omnibus Housing Appropriations,” (JustFacts). Walz signed 2024’s S.F. 3852, increasing the minimum wage and other appropriations to minimum wage workers. Every other worker who does not make minimum wage will fund S.F. 3852’s increase in wages. The bill does not cite a viable reason for this increase, and why minimum wage workers are prioritized over self-employed workers; or those who make more than minimum wage, but find themselves consistently living paycheck-to-paycheck. Walz omits this consideration, instead focusing on “what looks good on paper, and in theory;” rather than actualizing successful policy initiatives.
Omitting Necessities
Tim Walz’s voting history has remained opposed to populist values since his election into office. In 2018, Walz voted NO on H.R. 6136, a bill that would reform the U.S. Border’s security and tighten the process of immigration. Now, six years later, America faces a persistent influx of illegal immigrants, as the U.S. government floods immigrants into major cities without an effective gameplan. Politicians like Walz fail to recognize that illegal immigrants are human beings, not political pawns to be used to further an incumbent’s self-enrichment.
Tim Walz did not vote in 2018 to halt the opioid crisis, neglecting H.R. 6. Further, Walz did not vote on H.R. 5735’s THRIVE act (Transitional Housing for Recovery in Viable Environments Demonstration Program Act). If passed this would’ve given Section 8 housing vouchers to provide temporary assistance to housing citizens recovering from opioid addiction. Instead, recovering opioid abusers are forced back onto the streets, increasing the likelihood that they will return to the substance. Walz does not care about the citizenry, aside from their constituency.
Tim Walz discriminates against entire ethnic populations. Walz signed H.F. 4165, a bill that “[r]equires State agencies to ‘promptly terminate existing contracts with Russian entities or Belarussian entities as practicable’ (JustFacts). Walz believes in punishing an entire population of citizens for the actions of government leaders; revealing that Walz is quick to shift responsibility, passing the blame for government intervention unto citizens.
But Walz’s neglect does not stop at his constituents; it extends to all species. Walz voted NO to 2018’s H.R. 2083, a bill that would protect sea lions from being over-hunted, limiting their removal. The regulation of sea lion hunting and the recognition of its importance would symbiotically protect endangered species of fish. The population of sea lions, like deer, must be controlled. In the case of sea lions, this measure offers a fair opportunity for salmon, steelhead, sturgeon,—and other threatened fish populations listed under the Endangered Species Act of 1973 (Sec. 3)—to sustain their species; thus contributing to the ecosystem. The bill would’ve placed limitations on the number of sea lions removed, and controlled the length of time the license would remain active. Walz’s omission shows his neglect of anything beyond the usurpation of Minnesotan citizens' civic rights.
Walz is unfit to lead any aspect of America. Demagouges ought not be trusted to enact a meaningful lasting change, as it is written, “[y]ou see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone . . . For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead,” (James 2:24, 26; NASB).
Conclusion
Kamala Harris’s selection of Tim Walz displays that she is not making her own political decisions, but acting on behalf of the interests of the permanent bureaucracy. Harris is a mascot for the interests of the ruling class. Waltz’s focus on the mythical middle class shows his detachment from society post-pandemic. Many middle-class Americans have fallen into poverty, or live paycheck-to-paycheck; thus a comprehensive policy initiative ought to be enacted, rather than discriminate against those below the threshold of consideration. The coronavirus nearly eradicated America’s middle class; and forced many Americans to reconsider their budgets. While the rich got richer and the poor got poorer, Walz remained safe in power behind his veil of incumbency throughout the entire pandemic. Walz’s overt enthusiasm for the nonexistent middle class, displays his ineptitude for the position of Vice President. Rather than focus his efforts on supporting communities, Walz stands to ensure the government remains well-funded. Unlike Nicole Shanahan and J.D. Vance, Tim Walz does not bear a reverence for people outside of his comfort zone. Christians, opioid addicts, Non-minimum wage workers, Russians, Belarusians, Sea Lions, and endangered fish, all face persecution under Walz’s reign. Walz, as Vice President fails to represent the nation’s populist constituency. The time has come to stand
