‘South Park’ Creators to Buy Casa Bonita Restaurant
South Park creators plan to purchase the legendary 47 year old Mexican restaurant, featured in their hit tv show: Casa Bonita. Located in Denver Colorado, it has been opened since 1973, with the original Oklahoma restaurant in 1968.
On April 6, 2021, Casa Bonita filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Arizona.
That month, "Save Casa Bonita!" fans protested outside the 52,000-square-foot landmark at 6715 West Colfax Ave.
It was enough to make a few celebrity fans of the restaurant take note. In a public announcement Trey Parker, and Matt Stone, the creators of the TV series ‘South Park’, stated that they had reached a conclusion.
“We want to buy Casa Bonita and treat it right. I feel like it was neglected even before the pandemic,” Parker stated Wednesday to The Hollywood Reporter.
“We are absolutely trying to buy it,” Parker said. “We are going to do everything we can. We want to make it right and make it amazing.”
“We’re excited to work with everybody and make it the place we all want to make it,” Parker said.
The historic Mexican restaurant, known for its waterfall, cliff divers, and interior design, has long been a source of attraction around the Colorado area. It was even featured in the hit show Roseanne. Now, the restaurant will continue its legacy from the minds behind the 24 season series, South Park.
